Accomplishments

Allendale needs a leader with EXPERIENCE to navigate the ongoing complex issues we face today and in the future. Many town challenges rarely have simple solutions. Managing a municipality requires informed decision making, an in-depth understanding of how government works, strong relationships and sound perspective; all while keeping our town running efficiently, controlling taxes and delivering results that impact our daily lives.

Roadmap to Allendale's Future

Although there has been a great deal accomplished, there is still plenty more to do! Here is a roadmap we can work on together as a community:

Public Safety

  • Complete Streets Policy- Retained traffic engineer to create a policy framework to design, build and maintain roads and sidewalks for all ages.

  • In depth study of particular crosswalks and intersections

  • Downtown speedsticks for illegal parking in crosswalks

  • Support police downtown safety initiatives.

  • Decrease truck traffic at 230 West Crescent

  • Security camera installation for specific locations

  • Continued follow up with $2 million ladder truck grant.

Parks and Recreation

  • Design and build a new multi-sports area at the Red Barn with funding of multiple grants.

  • Acquire 274 West Allendale Ave for open space. Establish a committee to design a park like space which will aid in flood mitigation.

  • Complete Memorial Park renovations

  • Continued field maintenance.

Infrastructure

  • NJ Transit Lot rehabilitation- paving the lot, adding new spaces, signage and striping.

  • Continued infrastructure improvements-mill and pave five streets per year and continue to replace Borough sidewalks.

  • Continue working with county to address underpass flooding issues. 

  • Continued research on safe routes to school sidewalk feasibility.

  • Sewer inflow and infiltration investigation and repair.

Strong Financial Stewardship

  • Lessen the burden on taxpayers through continued use of grant opportunities.

  • Out of the box thinking to combat unaffordability issues by attending various Mayor's meetings and participating in special municipal research groups.

  • Zero based budgeting.

Good Governance

  • Watchdog for new Executive Orders from Trenton concerning affordable housing.

  • Advocate for healthcare reform.

  • Transparency- listening to residents and providing forums of open communication.

  • Continued excellent financial stewardship.

  • Create succession plan with experienced people who will serve Allendale.

Resident Focused Leadership

  • Continued support of our downtown merchants.

  • Advocate for our seniors-provide additional programs and support to meet their needs.

  • Continue with special community committees such as: finance, sports and environment. 

  • Support for all of our volunteer organizations.
